How pickup works for damaged vehicles
Schedule Pickup
Once you decide to donate, you can easily schedule a pickup at a time that works for you. We'll work with you to find the best time slot for collection.
Flatbed Tow Vehicle
Our team will arrive with a flatbed tow truck, specifically designed for non-running vehicles. This means no hassle with wheeling it on or dealing with locked steering or parked transmissions.
Clear Access
Please ensure there’s a clear access path for our 25-foot flatbed truck. This helps us safely load your vehicle without any complications.
Pickup & Documentation
Upon pickup, we'll provide you with the necessary documentation to ensure your donation is recorded accurately, which includes a release of liability.
Honest value expectations
When it comes to the value of your non-running vehicle donation, we want to be transparent. Typically, you can expect your vehicle to sell at auction for between $200 and $800, depending on factors such as the year, make, condition of the wheels, and the presence of high-value components like a catalytic converter or aluminum parts. If there’s potential for an engine rebuild, the value may be higher, but if the vehicle is only salvageable, it may be lower. You will still receive IRS Form 1098-C, which allows you to deduct the actual sale proceeds from your tax return.
Diagnose or donate?
If you're contemplating whether to spend money on diagnostics, consider the potential benefits of donating instead. Often, the costs of repairs and diagnosis can add up quickly and may not lead to a viable solution. By donating your non-running car to RevUp Richmond, you avoid those expenses and can still benefit from a tax deduction based on the sale proceeds. It's a simple way to turn your frustration into a positive contribution for your community.
Richmond pickup specifics
Richmond boasts a robust network of towing services, making it easy for us to handle flatbed pickups efficiently throughout the area. Virginia also has specific regulations concerning abandoned vehicles, which often means that a non-running car can become a burden if left unattended. By donating your vehicle, you are not only alleviating this concern but also supporting local causes without the hassle of dealing with city ordinances.
